How to Download Reddit Videos on iPhone (Save to Camera Roll)

Reddit has no download button for videos, and the ones you save from the player come out silent. Here is how to get the full video with sound onto an iPhone and into Photos.
Reddit's app and website have no download button for videos. Long-pressing the player does nothing useful, and screen recording catches the notifications along with the clip. The way that works on any iPhone is a short detour through Safari.
What you need
- An iPhone or iPad on iOS 15 or later
- Safari (any browser works, but Safari's download manager is the simplest)
- The link to the Reddit post
No app to install, no Shortcut, no Reddit account.
Step 1: Copy the post's link
In the Reddit app, open the post, tap Share and then Copy Link. On the website, copy the address from the address bar.
Any form of the link works: reddit.com/r/…/comments/…, the short redd.it/… link, the reddit.com/r/…/s/… share link the app gives you, or a v.redd.it video link.
Step 2: Paste it into FromRed.net
Open FromRed.net in Safari and paste the link into the box. The video loads right away — there is no button to press.
You get a preview of the video and a list of qualities, from the smallest up to the largest one the uploader provided (1080p when the original was 1080p). Every MP4 has the sound in it: Reddit stores picture and sound as separate files, and FromRed.net joins them before you download.
Step 3: Download the MP4
Tap the quality you want. Bigger qualities take a few seconds to prepare; the button shows a progress spinner while they do. When the file is ready, Safari asks whether to download it — tap Download.

Step 4: Move it to Photos
Safari saves to the Files app, not to Photos. To get the video into your Camera Roll:
- Open Files and go to On My iPhone → Downloads (or iCloud Drive → Downloads, depending on your Safari settings).
- Tap the video to open it.
- Tap the Share button and choose Save Video.
It now sits in Photos with your other videos, ready to edit, send or post.
Which quality to choose
- 1080p or 720p for keeping or re-editing.
- 480p or 360p to send in a chat, where the app would compress it anyway.
- If the list stops at 720p, the uploader's original was 720p. No tool can add detail that was never uploaded.
Just the sound, or a GIF
The same link gives you more than the MP4. Under the video there are buttons for the audio — the original M4A and MP3 at 320 to 64 kbps. If you only ever want the sound, the Reddit to MP3 page puts those buttons first. To turn part of the video into a GIF — choosing where it starts, how long it lasts and how big it is — paste the same link into the Reddit video to GIF converter.
Common problems
The video has no sound. Check that the clip has sound on Reddit itself — some are uploaded silent. If you saved it some other way, read why Reddit videos have no sound.
Safari says it can't download the file. Make sure the iPhone has free space; a 1080p video can run to a few hundred megabytes.
