Reddit Post & Thread Downloader

Paste a link to a Reddit post and save the whole thread — the post with its comments, nested as on Reddit — as a PDF, plain text, Markdown or JSON file. For offline reading, research and archiving. Free and online.

Any public Reddit post, comment, share, v.redd.it or i.redd.it link. It starts on its own as soon as you paste.

How to Download a Reddit Post with Comments

  1. Copy the post link

Tap Share under the post and choose Copy link, or copy the address from your browser.

  2. Paste it into the field

The Reddit post downloader reads the post and shows it with the four formats it can be saved in.

  3. Choose a format

Press PDF, TXT, Markdown or JSON. The thread is put together with up to 1,500 of its top comments and saved to your device.

Save a Reddit Post as PDF

The PDF is laid out for reading: the title, the subreddit, the author and the date, the post's text with its formatting, its pictures, and the comments underneath with each reply indented under the one it answers. It looks the same on every device, prints cleanly and can be highlighted in any PDF reader.

Reddit thread to PDF works for text posts, link posts and media posts alike. Up to twenty of the post's pictures are included; videos are listed by their address, since a PDF cannot play them.

Export a Reddit Thread to Text (TXT)

The TXT file is the thread as plain text, which opens in anything — Notepad, a phone's notes app, an e-reader, a terminal. Replies are indented under their parent comment and each one starts with the author, the score and the date, so the conversation is easy to follow without any formatting.

Convert a Reddit Post to Markdown for Obsidian and Notion

Reddit itself is written in Markdown, so this is the most faithful copy: bold, lists, links, quotes and code come through exactly as they were typed. Replies are nested as quotes, and the post's address is kept at the top, so the note links back to its source.

Drop the .md file into an Obsidian vault, import it into Notion, Logseq or Bear, or keep it with your other notes — it is plain text that any Markdown app reads.

Get a Reddit Thread as JSON

The JSON file is the thread as data: the post with its title, author, score, date and media, and the comments as a tree, each with its author, score, date, text and replies. It is cleaned of Reddit's internal fields and documented by a schema number, which makes it easy to load into Python, a spreadsheet or a database for research.

PDF vs TXT vs Markdown vs JSON: Which Format to Choose

  • PDF

To read, print or share a thread as it looks, pictures included.

  • TXT

For the smallest file that opens anywhere, an e-reader included.

  • Markdown

For notes: Obsidian, Notion, Logseq — formatting and links kept.

  • JSON

For analysis and archives: every field, as structured data.

Save Reddit Posts for Offline Reading and Archiving

Threads get deleted, edited and locked, and communities go private. A saved copy keeps what was said when you read it — a guide you rely on, a discussion you cite, an answer you do not want to lose. Reddit's own Save button only bookmarks a post on Reddit; it does not keep a copy.

Each file ends with the date it was saved and the address it came from. Reddit hands a signed-out reader up to 500 comments of a thread at once and folds the rest behind "more replies"; those are fetched too, up to 1,500 comments in a file, and whatever is still folded in a bigger thread is counted and noted at the end rather than left out silently. Posts that are already deleted cannot be saved — there is nothing left on Reddit to save.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I download a Reddit post with all comments?

You get the post and its top comments with their replies — the 500 Reddit hands out at once, then the replies it folds behind "more replies", up to 1,500 comments in a file. In bigger threads, what is still folded is counted at the end of the file.

How do I save a Reddit thread as PDF on mobile?

Copy the post link in the app, paste it here and press PDF. On iPhone it goes to the Files app, on Android to Downloads.

Are images included in the PDF?

Yes, up to twenty of the post's pictures. Videos are listed by their address, since a PDF can't play them.

Can I download a deleted Reddit post?

No — once a post is deleted, Reddit no longer has it to give. Save the threads you care about while they are up.
